Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall operation of the neighborhood, including such things as the annual budget, enforcing the deed restrictions, overseeing the operation of the various committees, interacting with our management company, and more. This is a seven person team, each serving a two year term. The terms are staggered to provide continuity, so three positions are up for election this September with the other four up for election the following September. At this point in time we do not expect the current three members to seek re-election, so without your help there will be several vacant positions. The Board has regular meetings once a month to conduct Association business, and works with Alliance Association Management for the day to day operations of the neighborhood. So don’t worry, if you volunteer you won’t be the one to personally call property owners and ask why they haven’t yet paid their annual dues.

Architectural Control Committee

The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) is responsible for reviewing improvement requests from property owners and determining if they are in compliance with the deed restrictions and governing documents. This is the most active committee, and operates best with four to six members. There are currently only four members and two of them have indicated that they may not remain on the committee after this session. Without an ACC we would have homes that are only 50% masonry, encroach on property lines, have dirt driveways, and more (these are actual examples from the past). Most of the committee business is performed on-line and does not require in person meetings. They usually process anywhere from five to ten requests a month.

Rules Committee

The Rules Committee helps interpret aspects of our guiding documents and provides drafts of new documents for the Board to review. For example, numerous residents asked the Board for small boats (canoes, rowboats, etc.) to be allowed on Lake Lookout. The Board then asked the Rules Committee to reconsider all of the rules affecting the park and lake and propose something more comprehensive and clear. The committee took these rough requests and provided a set of rules that met the requirements and were in accordance with the deed restrictions. Most of the committee business is performed on-line, and there are typically five to ten issues a year that need to be addressed.

Landscaping Committee

The Landscaping Committee is responsible for proposing and following through on landscaping maintenance and improvements for the common areas of the neighborhood. This is probably the most asked about committee at each annual meeting with requests from residents for trees in the park, walking trails, new signs and flowers at the entrances, and more. Interestingly enough, it is also the only committee that regularly has zero volunteers on a regular basis. Earlier this year several residents volunteered to help on a couple of special projects, so we are hopeful that we will end up with members on this committee this year.

Newsletter Committee

A handful of newsletters have been published over the years, typically when issues of particular importance have come up. There have been requests for more newsletters, but we need committee members to help generate enough content to make it worthwhile.
