Roadwork

As those of you who live in the neighborhood already know, a lot has happened to the roads in the last seven days.

First, the good news: CR 137 is now open all the way from Rowe to 1660, giving us a clear "back way" into Hutto that bypasses all the construction on 130/685.

The bad news: We knew it was coming, but it's finally here. FM 685 has now been split into the two one-way access roads for the new state highway Texas-130. A few points on that:

  • This means that you cannot turn south from Rowe Lane anymore, and you can't turn onto Rowe from southbound 685. It's unclear yet whether we'll be losing that stop light, but I am betting that we are.
  • The Priem and Gattis School crossovers are closed. I believe Priem is closed permanently, but the Gattis School crossover should reopen when the bridge work is done.
  • There are turnarounds at Kelly (to the south) and a new one between Rowe and Priem. The one at Kelly should be permanent, but I suspect the one between Rowe and Priem is temporary.

There is going to be a public meeting about SH130 on November 19 to go over this. The meeting is free to attend, but you must register by November 4th.
