LCRA Wastewater Plant Update
We recently met with some LCRA officials, and we have some good news to report -- not great news, but still good news.
Expansions to another existing wastewater plant have given the LCRA a little more time to evaluate the placement of the new proposed wastewater plant. They have now done a cost evaluation of two additional sites for the plant, both of them to the north and east of our neighborhood by about one to two miles.
However, these two sites are in addition to the three sites that border directly on our neighborhood, and these nearby sites have not been ruled out. The LCRA will not be able to make a final recommendation until further on-site study has been done at the new sites. They expect that to be finished by September, and they have promised to meet with our board then. Afterwards, there will likely be another public meeting in the October to November time frame.
Perhaps the best news is that the LCRA has shown it is sensitive to our concerns as a neighborhood and has been reasonable and diligent in trying to resolve this issue with us.
I'm sorry this had dragged out as long as it has, but it appears to be the standard pace for projects this large. We will post updates as we get them, but the next certain news won't come until September.
